To be able to be a part of another family’s birth story is such an incredible privilege. People often ask why I want to photograph births. If you have never been to a birth (aside from your own) or if you have never experienced what it’s like to witness a baby being born, then I am sure it would be hard to understand why I do what I do. But it is such an amazing thing to witness, to record, and such an incredible time in your life that can now be preserved forever.
My oldest child is almost 6. It has been almost 6 years since she was born! And sadly, her birth is all a bit of a blur to me. I remember the basics, and I wrote down as many details as I could after she was born, but it’s so hard for me to think back and really visualize what it was like! Even with my 4 year old, the details are a little fuzzy. With my third child though, I knew having a birth photographer was a must. And I can’t tell you how much those images bring me right back to that moment. Remembering all the little details. Capturing how I first looked at him, what his brand new baby face looked like, how tiny he was when his daddy held him for the first time. Every little detail brings me right back.
When I am at your birth, my goal is to preserve this moment in time for you. In a tasteful, beautiful, magical way so that you can always look back and remember this day, this moment, when you brought your baby into the world. With both pictures and short videos set to music, I capture your baby’s birth story for you so that you will remember these moments forever. Because the day that your baby is born, the day that you fell in love with somebody for the first time, is a day that you should be able to remember clearly for the rest of your life.
